Joy Learno: beehive

This video segment from Between the Lions is an animated non-fiction segment starring talk show host, Joy Learno. Joy interviews Queen Bee while wearing a bee-keepers hat. Queen Bee shares information about how bees work. She explains that worker bees are all females. The male worker bees, called drones, stay in the honeycomb and take care of the queen all day. Queen Bee lives in a honeycomb made of beeswax, which is where they keep the pollen they collect from flowers, the honey that's made, and the larva (the queen's eggs). The queen also mentions that there could be several thousand larva in her honeycomb, then she leaves. Featured words include: workers, larvae, honeycomb, beeswax, pollen, honey, and flowers. This video segment provides a resource for Vocabulary, and Language and Vocabulary Development.
